March Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Hello friends!  It’s that time again!  As we wrap up a month, we get to say hello to the new and upcoming Stamp of the Month.  And with that, we have a blog hop!  A hop is a big chain of blog posts that are linked so you can hop from one to another.  All of us are posting artwork for this month’s stamp of the month.  If you’re already hopping you should have just come from {Katy Taylor’s blog}.
This month I used the Balloon Ride papers and the Rosewood Mini-Medley Accents to complete my card.  I also used on of the card designs from Make it from Your Heart Vol 2.  I love this How To book!  It has quick and easy sketches complete with measurements for making beautiful well balanced cards and layouts.  I used Balloon Ride papers because I like their old world feel and simply because I haven’t had a chance to play with them yet.
I masked the rest of the words from “Home is our Happy Place,” so I could get the word happy.  I stamped on a scrap of paper and then cut a hole for the word happy.
CTMH Stamp of the Month Card using Balloon Ride featuring a Matryoshka doll by Lalia Harris
I colored my little doll with our watercolor pencils.  I used Crystal Blue, Sorbet and Honey and then blended them to take out any pencil strokes with our water based blender pen.  If you blend too much, you’ll remove some of the color.  Please wait until the project is dry before coloring again.  The hard pencil tips will dent the paper rather than color it when the paper is damp.
I embellished the doll with some of the tiny gems that are around the larger gem that I used in the top left corner.  I tore that little gem apart to use each individual piece.  I must note that it was already damaged and missing a piece or two.  I didn’t didn’t tear into a perfect one.  But I like the effect so much that I might do it again.

Inside the card I have a little pennant bunting across the bottom and a strip of the sorbet balloon ride paper.  The bunting is the border from the sentiment “like mother like daughter.”  I CUT it from the stamp and then curved it on a block.  It’s super easy to do and I’ll be able to put it back together when I need to use the whole stamp.  Acrylix stamps are wonderful!

Here’s the adorable stamp set we’re working with this month!  It’s just $5 with a $50 purchase or the standard D-sized set price of $17.95 when purchased separately which you can do!  Either way, it’s only available in March!  Click here to shop

Picture My Life™: Skylark cards

In Sunday’s post, I showed you the first few pages I created with Picture My Life.  I’m using the Skylark set of cards.  You receive 44 of the 4x6 double sided cards (2 of each design) and 78 of the 3x4 cards (3 of each design).  Being that these cards are double sided and that you only get 2 or 3 of each card, you won’t be repeating the same card often unless you choose to.  You also receive 10 page protectors 1 12x12 title page and 3 each of our newly designed page protectors noted as Design 3, 4 & 5 in our Idea Book on page 135.  You’ll also see the 3 designs of pages below in a bit.  10 page protectors will fit 75-125  photos and you’ll have a ton of cards left over.  Additional page protectors can be ordered.
I have the front & back of each card touching so you can see exactly what you’re getting in the Skylark kit.  Each individual card has a title or sentiment on one side and room for journaling on the other.

Here’s the last of the 44 cards and the 12x12 cover page that’s included in the kit.  It matches kit. On the reverse side are 6 cards that can be cut apart.

Just in case you’re curious, Designs 1 & 2 are CTMH’s original divided page protectors.  They are compatible with Picture My Life and can mixed with the new designs in an album.  I have a ton of horizontal or landscape photos from my travels and they compliment what you receive in Picture My Life so well.
All page protectors are $9.95 for a package of 10 and sold in packages of a single style.  They are for post bound or 3 ring binder albums.  They will not fit strap hinge.

Picture My Life Introduction [Video]

Here’s an overview of what’s included in the Picture My Life kits.  The kit featured in this video is the Later Sk8r kit.

I’ll be featuring the Skylark kit throughout this week.  More details on my kit are coming on Wednesday!

Click here to view the video via YouTube

Picture My Life kits are a tremendous value.  You receive 122 double sided cards and 10 page protectors for $24.95.  Where else can you put together scrapbooks at 2.50 per 2 page layout?  It’s the simplest, fastest and most economical scrapbooking system that I know of!  If you add 10 more page protectors (because you’ll have enough cards for 10 more pages), the price could drop to $1.75 per two pages.  It’s fabulous!

Introducing Picture My Life: Masterpieces in Minutes

I started scrapping in 2006 after our son was born.  Prior to that, everything has been in boxes, boxes and more boxes!  Back when we took pictures on 35mm film, we took numerous shots and had double prints made!  Do you remember that?  My goal this year is to empty those boxes and make beautiful albums.  Over the next week or so I’ll be showing you more of my pages and the features of Picture My Life.
So far, I’ve only used Skylark, one of the 8 designs available.  I have a work in progress album and the Balloon Ride Picture My Life (PML) version arriving this week!
This was from our trip to the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park in September 2001.  There’s lots of scenery shots of the beautiful parks.

I was able to just slip my photos and postcards in the pockets so quickly.  I trimmed a few photos down to fit in the 3x4 pockets.  I was amazed that I could crop a photo to half its original size and still tell the story!
Right now I’m using binder rings to hold my project together.  I’m going to keep it in our Work in Progress Binder until I’m done.  Then I’ll transfer it to one of our post bound albums.

You’ll probably want to have at least one of each size of PML card on each side of the layout to give the eye a place to rest and room for journaling.  I really like to stuff my layouts full of photos.

Hop on over to my website to see all 8 of the Picture My Life sets.  Later this week I’ll be showing you all of the full sized cards that are in the Skylark kit!

A Hoot of an Experiment

Hello friends!
The new Spring & Summer 2014 Idea Book is out and we’re here to showcase the new product in a blog hop today.  You’ll get to hop through blogs and return to this one to see various projects created with the brand new product.  If you’ve already been hopping, you’ve just come from {Nikka’s blog}.

Laughing Lola and Owls CTMH stamp set by Lalia Harris
My card features Lollydoodle papers, Owls stamp set, Flamingo dots and Topiary Mini Chevron Ribbon.  These are just a few of my very favorite things from this Idea Book.
I also colored my owl with a variety of our CTMH Alcohol markers.  The body is whisper grey, the yellow is light honey.  The beak and feet are Light Honey + Sorbet which makes a good replacement for Sunset.  The belly is a variety of colors Sweet Leaf, Sky, Cotton Candy, and Sorbet.

I then decided to experiment.  Would googley eyes look good on my owl?  You tell me.  Smile
If you want to bypass my experiment and hop on over to {Jody’s blog} feel free to.  Click the blog hop logo to find the entire list of hoppers.
